Didn't it sound like a Marathi ??? Yes it is.... "Parat Punyat", which means, "Once again to Pune". One of the website says, "The Pune Gazetteer explains the term Pune as Punya - a holy place. In Hindu tradition, a confluence (sangama) of two rivers is sacred. Hence, this city, where there is a confluence of two rivers, is Punyanagari."
Its been a week since am here for the third time in last 6 months. Almost one and a half months in Pune altogether... The place has become more accustomed to me now... I started understanding the roads, places, the people, climate, the culture and now even bits and pieces of language. This time I was left alone as not many engineers turned up for the Phase-2 issue troubleshooting.
Now am at the customer site while typing this blog. Just now the clock turned 00:00 am. That is 19th May 2008. I've to wait for another 2 more hours for starting my work, 'coz the maintenance window starts early morning 2.00 am till 4.00 am. Need to check few things/collect some logs and then go back to hotel. Don't know if I get any rickshaw that time...
These types of nightout work reminds me about my previous company, where I had several (uncountable) nightouts throughout my career.
Now a days, I've seen many youngsters, not comfortable to put in their 75% of efforts or stretch themselves for doing some work, when required. They say, work is too hectic and I want to shift to a different work place. Isn't it too early for them to ask for such things... ? Might be I'm wrong...
I'm keeping this blog open for more news and updates from Pune, for a later time... Need to get going with my work..

Trip to Kirudale - Coorg
Exaclty one week over since me n my team had visited Kirudal - Coorg. Time is ru
nning so fast that I didnt even realize that one week went past. Ok, now coming to the point. This is the second time I'm going to this place. In 2006 I had gone to the same place with few of my collegues. The same place was choosen again this time for the team outing and yup, we started for Coorg on May 1st morning 6 am. Its was a holiday for us and the planned trip was for 2 days. May 2nd, all the team members opted for On-Official-Duty. (OOD)
As usual there were some confusions with the timings. Everyone assembled at K2 office by 6.15 am. This time the bus was late. I was a bit tensed since I arranged the bus. We had not wait much longer. Bus came by 6.30 am and we started for the journey. It took almost 7 hours to reach the resort we had booked. "Planters Camp". On the way, we had some fun activities inside the bus like, anthakshari, dumbshrads etc:-. Watched one lovely movie "Jab We Met". We were not much tired, 'coz the bus was air conditioned. The website of Planters camp says
"Planter's Camp is designed for Eco Adventure tourists and is not a conventional resort. The camp is designed for maximum staying comfort and with all facilities but the essence has been to touch the natural space as little as possible.". This statement is true to the fullest. We were welcomed by the staffs there and were directed towards 4 tents, in the middle of a tea estate. Its almost a semi transparent tent. But
a new experience for all of us. Low cost constructions. It was an amazing view from the tent. On the far side, could see beautiful hills covering the entire area. We settled down for few minutes in the tents, took some snaps and then moved towards the place where lunch was arranged. All the cooks were mallus. I could interact with the freely. Food was pretty good. Not only for me, but everyone else enjoyed the taste. After the lunch we boarded the bus and moved towards the foothill, to see a river. Since its summer time, we could find only less
water there. Spend few time out there and then we started towards the view point. Ohh dear... I love that place... Superb atmosphere. We were placed on top of a hill. A mind blowing panoramic view. I took one video and few still, before my camera battery died. We all enjoyed the scenic excellence to the core. Sat there in the tower for sometime, did some chit chats, got dissolved in the cool breeze flowing in.
Now back to the tent. There we were welcomed with an organized camp fire. We all got fresh up quickly and gathered infront of the burning wood bunch. Some fun activities we had that time too. I was carrying my p
ack of cards which helped me in pushing atleast 45 mins of the entertainment. Haann yes, I did few magic tricks for the team. Simple tricks, but my team members got really impressed with those... He heeee... Last trip it was dance. This time magic. And in next trip something different should come out of me, which I have already planned.. Surprise :-). Next is, sleep in the middle of a jungle, that too in a semi open tent. We found different varieties of insects poping into the tent at r
egular intervals. Slept by 00.30am and we all woke up by 6.00am types.
The second and final day. Early morning it was planned for a plantation walk. With the track suits on, we all went for the tiring and exhaustive plantation walk. Walked towards one place were its said to be having waterfalls. We hardly
found any water there... Spent some time there and walked back to the tent. Had a quick and heavy breakfast. Packed up the things and return. On the way back we had planned to drop down at Golden temple of Tibet. I had visited the same place last time as well. For the first time visitors, it was a pleasent feeling. The place is so colourfull that you will love it. Some snaps I took from there in which I got one of the best and soothing still of my life. A rose.
The same place is slightly comercialized. We had some shopping there. After sometime we started back. In between we stopped for lunch. Played the
movie "Don". Watching the movie we all sat back and relaxed. By 8.30pm we reached office and settled the bills and dispersed.
I can't rate this trip as a 100% statisfied journey. But a better time with the team mates and a change from the routine life.

Not more than this :-)
Not more than this, I was happy ever by heart.... Today, I got one anonymous call while I was driving back home. The caller said, I'm from Wipro K2 and would like to talk to me something personal. Is this the right time to talk to you ? I was surprised to hear something like that... So, eventhough I was not at the right position to continue with a tele call, I still said, "ya, please tell me". The callee, introduced himself to be a PM of some project and his name sounded like a northee. He said to me that.. "Hey, Vinu, your sketch on Premji is superb". (I had sketched Azim Premjis, portrait and the same is there fixed on the wipro k2 main notice board for last many months. No other matter had stayed sticked to the board for such a long time). He continued... "Do you teach youngsters on this art ?. My son is interested in sketching and painting. Would like you to teach him some basics stuffs". I was excited to hear such an appreciation first ever for any of my hobbies... But I conveyed back to him that, I did that sketch as a part of my interest, I've not learned from anybody and I've not taken it up as a profession. Still I can give some leads in b'lore for your son, where he can go and get trained. The conversation ended like that... Once after the call, I felt, no other awards and appreciations for me is not more than this !!! Gud night...

New Violin
Bought a new violin last thursday... Previous one which I had purchased was not working from the day one. Since it was under warrantee and not gaurantee, shop keeper was not in a postion to replace. Instead he tried to repair it several times, but failed. Since he was helpless, I thought of buying a better Violin. Had to spend 3k for the new one. Today I took out the new one, tuned it, polished the bow and yes I played Sa, re, ga, ma.. after 12 years.... Am sooo happyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy :-). Just now I played Twinkle Twinkle Little Star also.. he heeeeeeee...... There is one dream which I need to fullfill.. I should work for that... gud night....

Yet another CAP !!!
For my second Pune visit, I got CAP award from Cisco for the second time. It was not so thrilling, as I had expected this, 'coz I know the amount of effort what I've put at the site. Still it was indeed a welcome appreciation on my professional front in the midst of a total disappointment in my personal deals.
Lost :-(
Sunday !!! The most disappointing day... My team lost in the semi finals. Before the match everyone predicted that we'll surely go into finals. But unfortunately, that too against a weak team, we lost by 22 runs. I got out for 10 runs, inside edge to the stumps. My heart broke that time. I wanted to rewind it and play it properly. It was an easy delivery on which by mistake or bad luck, I lost my wicket. Later on, no one in my team could take a descent score. Till now, that delivery and loss is haunting me... Don't know when a tournament like this will happen again to prove myself. Might be one more year.... :-(

Not out again !!!
We, RCL team is into semi finals of Decca Euphoria Cricket tourney. Today there were lot of exiting matches on the Super 8 round. We played against the youngsters team named Strangers. They batted first and scored just 38. We won by 7 wickets. Finished off in the 7th over itself. I took 6 runs and was NOT OUT again :-). Tomorrow morning is Semi finals. If we win that match, then we need to play finals the same day at 2 pm. Within two days, total play, made me completely tired. Need to regain energy as tomorrow's match is the crutial one for our team. God helps us !!!
